The Africa Energy Indaba 2025, held in Cape Town, brought together key players in the energy sector to discuss the continent’s pressing energy needs and investment opportunities. Representing Vutomi Energy, CEO Mr Timothy Simon Whati engaged with industry leaders and other strategic partners.

One of the major highlights was the urgent call for over R440 billion in investment to modernize South Africa’s transmission infrastructure. Minister of Electricity and Energy, Dr. Kgosientsho Ramokgopa, emphasized that innovative financing solutions are required to fund the ambitious 14,000-kilometer grid expansion. He also urged financial institutions to facilitate lower borrowing costs for energy projects, particularly as Africa anticipates a 300% rise in electricity trade by 2040.
Discussions also revolved around regional energy integration, emphasizing the need for interconnectivity to achieve universal access under the African Union’s Agenda 2063. As South Africa assumes the G20 Presidency, its energy priorities include energy security, affordable transitions, and enhanced continental connectivity.
“As Vutomi Energy, we are committed to driving Africa’s energy transformation by supporting sustainable investments and fostering strategic collaborations,” said Mr Whati.
